I know that NW is now in the process of replacing the DC-9 fleet but how much longer can we expect the 9rs to keep flying? I like them and want to make sure i still get a few flights in before they are gone.

I think the compass planes are supposed to replace the niners, which mean the rope for the DC-9 is short.
Why do my favorite airlines end up going defunct??http://web01.jetphotos.net/showphotos.php?userid=16657

The Embraers will only be 70-seaters.
I think NW is waiting for a "proven" 100 seater.

I'm confused, are you saying that NW is waiting for one of the current 100 seater's to prove itself, like the EMB 195, or are the waiting for a new candidate or something? At any rate a decision should be made soon, the DC-9's are 35+ years old.

Waiting on both. The DC-9's have about 7-10 years left, actually (after a number of rebuilds)
