NW announced they are flying seasonally DTW-FRA on a 757-200. The distance is 4161 miles. IND-AMS is 4171 miles. So I guess we know now it can be done. Only question is will it be done?

It would be huge for the city. And the extra leg room would be every attractive for me. I'd be on that flight in a hurry.

but reading on ANet people were saying that theres a chance the dtw fra flight would have to refuel would that hurt a ams flight for us?

I think they are wildly speculating on the refueling. I doubt NW would schedule a flight that needed refueling. They likely assume they can make the run with the winglets and reduced seating. Who knows what other modifications they are making to reduce weight.

Also nice thing about the 757-200 if they were to do that here is that there wouldn't be capacity issues in the A concourse since they already run 752's and 753's here. Also international arrivals already handles the A320 so the modified 752 shouldn't be a big deal.
