June 8th marks the start of the 2006 summer schedule for Northwest Airlines (NWA). In full swing will be the 2 LAX flights, the 1 SFO flightly and the returning seasonal flight to SEA. Tomorrow will start an extremely busy season for NW. During each business day from June 8th until August 21st, NW will run 7088 seats a day through the airport. June 8th starts off with a load factor of 99.6%. On the outbound flights there were only 4 seats available on average for the day. Some flights were over sold and some were not full. But on average there was a difference of 4 spaces left. This gives NW the ability to handle over 200,000 passengers per month during the summer. Throught the 10 week schedule NW may serve was much as half a million passengers. This will give them a shot at 2 million passengers served for the year. They closed 2005 by serving 1.92 million passengers. The 1.92 mil was the highest number of passengers served by any airline going back to at lest 1995. It may have been the single highest number ever at IND by an airline.

More power to them. The great thing is that they're offering all this service and keeping prices VERY reasonable, IMO.

Do you think they'll be able to handle it all from terminal A?

And - open suggestion to NWA: Let's add an early-morning flight to MCI, say 7:30? Keep the 9:15 pm departure too.

They can handle their current load from "A". But if they are to increase their schedule much more they will need to move.

I think NW is going to expand at IND, its clear its been a wild success for them, and not as much as a flop as MKE was. I look for the Denver service to return and maybe a few other cities, that were pre-BK.

I'd love to see DEN, too. But I think NW would be smarter to first add cities where they'll be the first or second nonstop option. DEN already has F9 and UA on the route. As I've said many many many many times here Smile, I'd like to see PDX and SAN added. MSY would be a plus if the demand is there, and maybe DSM, OMA, and additional MCI flights. BWI would be a nice get as well. Bring back AUS and DFW while we're at it. And hell, why not SAT, SMF, PIT, CHS, SAV, and JAX too.

Oh yeah, and Indy wants AMS. Very Happy

The good thing about this site, is that if you had posted that on Airliners.net, you would have been flamed like hell. Cool

Amen to that. People here appreciate some TIC posts, as well. That's why I'm just a lurker on a.net. I couldn't possibly compete with all that self-proclaimed intellectual firepower that proves itself by using obscure airport codes. Wink

Exactly, everybody on A.net acts like they have something to prove to the world. I rarely post on there anymore, I can't stand that egotistic B vs. A crap. Plus, this site has topics that actually have relevance to me, unlike A.net with "Mexico City Airport" and "Qantas food selection," I mean what teenager, in central Indiana cares about that?

Sorry, just have to vent some hatred towards that site.

Couldn't agree more on the A vs B. I grew tired of that 5 years ago.

Although, someday you may appreciate a discussion of the Qantas menu items. What's boring is the incessant pestering about the proper spelling of Qantas. Yawn.

I dig the photos, though.

The photos are the main reason I go to that site, but I also like to look at the Flight Simulator screenshots as well.
