I was at the airport today and I looked around and took mental notes. Here is what I found. AirTran and Midwest Connect are completely in bed together here. Midwest Connect moved their ticket counter over to where AirTran has theirs. They both share a gate (C1) and they both share a baggage carousel .

Makes more sense for FL and MX-(is that right?) since they are possible merger candidates.

Why do my favorite airlines end up going defunct??

Well, there is plenty of room where AirTran is..since ATA left they left all of that. Which gate does Midwest use now? Sorry if it was mentioned before.

They would probably keep Midwest Connect. My guess is if the two did merge, they would keep the AirTran name so probably name midwest connect "AirTran JetConnect." I realize they used that name for the short previous stint with the regional feeder.

Doesn't Airtran already have a very small regional partner? I now I've seen CRJ's in Airtran colors before.

AirTran did have a regional partner--AirTran JetConnect that used the Canadair -200s. That stint did not last long as the partnership ended not too long after it started. Last year i saw a couple of United Express jets in the former colors of the jetconnect planes.
