I've been wasting time on a Sunday afternoon poking around on faremeasure and I found these destinations that could be served from IND.

Albuquerque, NM - 100 daily passengers = Airlink CRJ
Austin, TX - 118 daily passengers = Airlink CRJ (previous service)
Manchester, NH - 100 daily passengers = Airlink CRJ
Norfolk, VA- 120 daily passengers = Airlink CRJ
Portland, OR - 187 daily passengers = NW mainline
Providence, RI - 148 daily passengers = Airlink CRJ/ NW mainline
Sacramento, CA - 137 daily passengers = Southwest 733
Salt Lake City, UT - 134 daily passengers = Shuttle America E170 (previous service)
San Antonio, TX - 114 daily passengers = Airlink CRJ
San Diego, CA - 289 daily passengers = NW mainline/WN mainline
Seattle, WA - 359 daily passengers = NW mainline/ Alaska Airlines?

These are by no means guaranteed future destinations, but instead the top destinations without current service.

Why do my favorite airlines end up going defunct??

I think as Compass evolves you'll see some of these routes being picked up. Like Portland, Sacramento, San Diego, Seattle (not seasonal), and maybe places like New Orleans and Dallas/Ft. Worth.

I could see some of the shorter routes but a route to San Diego and Seattle are out of the question for Compass I feel, NW will use Compass as another RJ operator, not as a means to replace mainline service.

I have to disagree with that. I think Compass will be the replacement for the DC9's and perhaps some of the A319's and A320's. The ejets have the range to get to the coast and open up markets that wouldn't work for the larger jets. They will be a great replacement too for the CRJs especially on the longer routes. I mean who wants to fly IND-FLL on a CRJ?

From information coming from sources inside NWA, they are possibly placing an order for E190's that will go straight to mainline. Those could possibly be used.

I cannot stand Northworst. Sorry those that like them, but they are taking over IND. Hopefully ATA can pull it together and move back in.

My bet is that ATA never returns. And yes NW is taking over IND. Slowly but surely.

Never ever forget that ATA is essentially owned by Southwest now. So ATA will do nothing that fails to align with Southwest's interests.

ATA is not owned by Southwest completely. ATA is its own company. Southwest is a large carrier in Indy right, but I think ATA will start making more of their charters out of Indy. I think it would be worthwhile for ATA to do flights to ONT or OAK, since ATA provides the most flight from the mainland to Hawaii.

Yeah, because WN has a presence in IND, they don't want ATA to come in and steal their possible customers.

ATA won't be coming back...NW and FL have taken up much of the slack left behind from ATA. In my opinion, i think ATA should just take their headquarters and leave. They screwed a lot of people from jobs.

They shouldn't leave Indianapolis altogether, that would give them with a bad reputation in the eyes of many people.

I flew IND-LAS and LAS-IND with ATA on the L1011. It was sold out both ways. That was back in 2000 I think.

Heck NW could fly one of those old DC10's to LAS and back every day and fill it instead of that A319. What a treat that would be. Imagine how many people would make a longer drive just for the chance to fly in the 10.

In all reality (No offense to the TZ pipe dreams :winkSmile, I think FL should start service to LAS.
