This is what happens when you are bored at 2am. Here is a list of the most efficient concourses. This takes the passengers served per concourse and dividing it by the number of gates.

Concourse C : 56,681 per gate
Concourse B : 48,890 per gate
Concourse A : 48,122 per gate
Concourse D : 32,249 per gate

The most amazing thing about this is that there are I believe two common use gates in the C concourse. The airlines operating out of C have made much better use of the space. Even with this great efficiency they could have run additional service with no problem. Concourse D was a model of inefficiency having handled nearly the same number of passengers as the B concourse despite having 4 more gates. If you consider NW treats 8 gates as 12 you could downward revise their numbers greatly. Based on 12 gates the average per passenger would be 32,084 and a dead last finish for efficiency. But there are only 8 physical jet bridges and I am just going by that.

These numbers are based on the June 2008 IND traffic report.

Now how does that compare to other airports? I'm not sure if those are good, bad, or just average.

When I'm bored at 2am I go steal a car, I don't feel like crunching numbers.
