If you are looking to take some decent pics I think Monday the 26th of May could be a good time. It looks like NW will be sending a record SIX 757's (757-200 and 757-300).

I think I have the schedule correct for the day...

A320 645a DTW
A319 645a LAS
A319 700a LAX
753 715a MSP
CRJ 715a BOS
CRJ 730a RDU
D9S 745a LGA
CRJ 745a MCI
A320 800a DTW
D95 800a MEM
A319 815a SFO
D9S 830a MCO
753 933a MSP
757 955a DTW
CRJ 1035a LGA
D9S 1040a TPA
757 1116a DTW
D9S 1143a MSP
CRJ 1155a BOS
CRJ 1215p DCA
CRJ 1230p MEM
CRJ 1245p FLL
A319 126p DTW
CRJ 200p PHL
D9S 256p DTW
A320 300p MSP
CRJ 330p LGA
CRJ 500p MCI
757 510p DTW
D9S 515p MCO
CRJ 515p RDU
A319 525p MEM
CRJ 540p DCA
CRJ 615p LGA
CRJ 635p SAT
A319 642p DTW
757 705p MSP
CRJ 750p BOS
CRJ 850p BDL

I've bolded the mainline flights. I think early morning would be a great time. We'd be able to see the morning rush. Four of the 757's go out before noon. Thee of them between 9:30a and 11:30a. If you wanted to do 8 to noon you could catch nine NW mainline flights leaving including the D95, D9S, A319, A320, 757 and 753.

If you wanted instead an evening time then 5:00p to 7:30p wouldn't be too bad. You'd catch five NW mainline flights including two of the 757's. You'd get two A319's and one D9S.

Let me know if anyone is interested. FYI that is Memorial Day.

The day after the Indy 500, of course.

Have you looked to see what kind of widebodies are coming in to bring the Indy cars back from Japan?

Can I get a peanut crumb with that thimble of Coke?

Oh I'm sure JAL will be back. Don't know who or when other than that.

I'm game. I plan to actually do some spottingnext weekend. Btw..anyone know when a good time would be to buy a ticket foe the first flight out of the new terminal ? With schedules changing a lot I don't want to be screwed.

I have a better one for you. Why not schedule a flight somewhere and try and be the first flight to arrive in IND when the new terminal opens? Be the first to talk off the plane into the new terminal and the first to use baggage claim.

I'm going to shoot for morning and maybe afternoon to join you. But I'm not much of a morning person so it could be all afternoon Smile

FYI US Airways will also be sending a 757 from CLT the evening of the 25th. It will be departing back to CLT on the 26th at 7am. Don't get to see that here very often.

Will UA or CO have any aircraft of size here that day as well?

United will have a 757 coming in from DEN the morning of the 26th, and departing that afternoon. United will also have 757s flying IND-ORD departing at 9am and 4pm.

US will also have an additional PHX-IND-PHX flight that day - they normally have 2 flights/day betwen IND and PHX.

Continental isn't sending anything larger than the usual 737.

What time are you looking to go? I have nothing planned for Monday so I can try and work around your schedule.

Right now I'd say Monday afternoon doesn't look very good. Here is what the NWS has to say.

THUNDERSTORMS WILL BECOME LIKELY DURING THE AFTERNOON ON MONDAY.
THEY WILL CONTINUE TO BE LIKELY THROUGH TUESDAY. THE MAIN DANGER
FROM THESE STORMS WOULD BE LARGE HAIL AND LOCALLY DAMAGING WINDS.
