I didn't know this. In 1983 TWA had daily nonstop service to STL on the 767-200. I didn't know that jet ever served IND. I didn't realize it was even that old.

That had to have been a brand new aircraft.

Can I get a peanut crumb with that thimble of Coke?

Yeah, that aircraft had to be less than a year old.

Why do my favorite airlines end up going defunct??

I am amazed that any airline ever flew such a large aircraft on such short routes.

What was the frequency though? IND could fill 767's to LAS and MCO if it was one flight a day...

I was on an L1011 from STL to IND back in the day and it was empty. I doubt the 767 did any better. Smile

Yeah. I'm skeptical of the idea that the widebodies were full on those short routes. Maybe at Thanksgiving or Christmas. But that was back in the day when airlines were incredibly wasteful because they had no reason to be lean and efficient.

L1011 to STL? The struggle running a few regional jets a day on that route. The number of seats that used to go between IND and STL was insane.
