Hey Everyone,

I'm very excited because I recently purchased on eBay over 100 pictures taken at the IND airport in the 80s and early 90s. I obviously didn't take them and I'm not going to try and take credit for someone else's work, but there are too many great photos to not share them with everyone. I'm going to scan them and upload them to my Flickr account and I'll post the links here as I go along - I'm sure it's going to be a slow process as I'm very busy all of the time. But to get you all excited, here's a list of some of the pics I have:

- Pan Am 727-200 (The Original Pan Am - not the knock-offs) in the older Pan Am colors and the final billboard scheme.
- Pan Am 737-200 also in the old colors and in the billboard scheme.
- Ozark DC-9
- New York Air DC-9
- British Airways Concorde
- Air France Concorde
- Air Illinois BAC-1-11
- Frontier (Original Frontier) 737-200
- PeoplExpress 737-200
- Northwest Orient 727-200
- Southwest 737-200 (and maybe -300, can't remember)
- Presidential Airways 737-200
- American 767-200
- Saudia DC-8

Probably 40 or more pictures of the USAir hub operation. Lots of pictures of USAir in the 80s color scheme as well as the final USAir scheme before becoming US Airways. There are photos of USAir 737-200, 737-300, 737-400, BAC-1-11, DC-9, MD-80, and 727-200.

My favorite photos are as follows: there is a picture of a MD-80 in full PSA colors with the smiley face but the USAir title slapped on the side - obviously taken during the merger. There are also several pictures of a 727-200 in the Piedmont color scheme. You can very very clearly see where it still says "Piedmont" on the side and they have plastered a USAir logo over half of the word "Piedmont." Very sloppy work on their part, but I love the pictures of it.

There are several others that I'm forgetting right now, but I'm going to try and start scanning them this week and I'll post them in this forum as I get them uploaded!

Hey Indy,

I don't even know the link to my flickr page off the top of my head. I don't have anything on it except pictures of my former dog. haha

I'll try to upload some of the pictures this evening if possible. I've also been going on a crazy buying spree of old timetables lately, and I just bought USAir timetables from 1989 and 1992. These should be very interesting as they are from the height of the hub operation. Once I receive them, I'll also post information on here of what routes USAir flew nonstop from IND. Maybe I'll also post the routes other airlines flew even though they didn't have hubs here.

Here is the first of many to come - this is by far one of my favorites. I tried to make out the tail number, but was unable to....

Post the link that you see in your browser when you click in the "your photostream" link on flickr. That is the link I pasted for mine.

Sweet. Gotta love the Houston Astros orange-brown livery from the early US days...

Can I get a peanut crumb with that thimble of Coke?

Sorry, I have had zero time to scan anything. I've been traveling nonstop for the last few weeks back and forth across the country. I'm currently in Los Angeles and won't be back in Indy for a few days, so it's going to be a while. I'll get them on here asap, though.

Finally some pics of the USAir hub operation. I can't wait to see them duck. That's a lucky find on your part.

Why do my favorite airlines end up going defunct??
