Two planes bound for Denver, one a Frontier Airbus A319 and the other a United EMB-170 touched wings. I guess they're both so anxious to get to Denver first that they couldn't wait their turns for takeoff. Who said a little competition is a bad thing?

Two commercial jetliners grazed wings Monday on a taxiway at Indianapolis International Airport.

Officials said the scrape caused no injuries and minimal damage.

"The way it was described to me, they, quote, 'touched wings,' and that was it," said airport spokesman Dennis Rosebrough. "There were no injuries, no fire and only minor damage."

The accident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. when the right wing of a Frontier Airlines Airbus A-319 scuffed the rear of a United Airlines Shuttle plane near the airport terminal, according to the Federal Aviation Administration and airline officials.

Both Frontier Airlines Flight 619 and United Shuttle Flight 7517 were departing for Denver, airline officials said. The Frontier flight had 122 passengers. The United plane, an Embraer E-170 regional jet, had 70 passengers, officials said.

That is really bad. So who is at fault for this? Usually if someone on the tarmac hits a jet with anything they get fired. Don't know what happens when a jet hits a jet.

Might it have been an error with a ground controller who thought the UX plane was a smaller EMB135/145? The 170's are still pretty new, and their bigger than their predecessors. Perhaps the controller sent the UX plane past the F9 plane thinking it would clear when it did not?

Beyond that, I'm kinda surprised the pilots didn't catch how close they were to each other.

Can you imagine being a pax on the planes?

UX pax: "Gee look at the fancy wildlife picture on the tail of that plane! It's so close, I can see the color of that coyote's eyes!"

F9 pax: "Wow, that's a funny looking plane. Wispy blue and white paint job. It looks like a regional jet, but the engines are wing-mounted. I wonder..."

SMACK!

UX:"Holy crap! That stupid Frontier pilot just hit us!"
F9:"Holy crap! That stupid United Express pilot just hit us!"

UX Pilot: "That bus driver just pulled a Dale Earnhardt!"
F9 Pilot: "That toy plane jockey just pulled a Tony Stewart!"

Ground controller: "Ummm...I'm going on break now."
