I was out at the airport last night, and as I was driving up noticed a United 757 in the new colors parked remotely behind Delta's gates. I was told that it had a birdstrike in the right engine and made an emergency landing at IND a couple of days ago (which obviously makes sense since they don't fly mainline here anymore). The right engine was opened up when I saw it. Did anyone else hear anything about it?

I'm curious where it would have been taking off from or landing at where it would have hit a bird and routed to IND. You hit birds at low altitude. You'd turn around and land somewhere close. Or was it maybe in for maintenance here and struck a bird at IND?

I found it on FlightAware. It was routing IAD to SEA and diverted to IND. Interesting.

A bird strike would seem unlikely. It would have been at cruising altitude for an hour. Roughly.
