Who would like to get together one evening? Maybe at a restaurant somewhere. Maybe at TGI Friday's at the airport. If you'd be interested please let me know. Let me know what day of the week is best for you and what time. Give as much info as possible so I can try and find a date, time and location.

I'm aiming for sometime this year. I'll let you all decide.

Weeknights(except for Weds.) or weekends are good for me.

Why do my favorite airlines end up going defunct??

You could even toss a mention of this on A.Net and see what kind of response you get. Then again, the lack of some "big" activity might thrwart a few from making the effort, but a simple get together for shooting the bullshit or whatever never hurt anybody.

If you read on the a.net non aviation forum, I went to the Birmingham shoot out over the weekend. I highly enjoyed myself.

I could do that. I want to find out for sure when everyone on here would like to meet first and then post it on a.net.

What time will you be in? Reason I ask is because my wife is scheduled to work the evening shift on the 20th, 21st and 22nd. The I have to be home by 6pm on those days.

Change of plans -- I'm not going to Indianapolis as of this time. I will be flying to Des Moines on Monday and returning to St. Louis on Tuesday, and then immediately getting on another plane and flying up to Chicago for Thanksgiving holiday.

Sad thing is .. on Wednesday I have to backtrack and drive down to Lafayette in the morning and back that early afternoon. If life were simple.

Oy.

But looking on the bright side, I get to add a new "airport" to my list now!

Major change of plans --

I am pleased to announce that I have accepted a three year deal with the ABC television affiliate in Des Moines, Iowa. Needless to say, the Des Moines trip was a success. I will be moving there Dec. 8th.

Wow. Congratulations. But this is going to kill your ability to get an airport fix isn't it?

Not really. There are good fares to be had out of Des Moines to many destinations. Plus Omaha has great fares and is just two hours down the road. I'll be able to still travel and what not, and plus I have a rather cushy schedule for a newbie.

I think I will still be able to make the a.net meet in Las Vegas in March. I will probably skip RTNDA since I don't need to go in Las Vegas in March but I presume come June I will be looking to take a few trips here and there, giving myself some time to settle in and figure out Des Moines as a whole.

Of course that doesn't mean I won't do any of my "splurge" trips on expedia where I fly out morning of day 1, do what I want, and come back evening of day 2. That is still going to be possible. Although I really do need to be cautious with the weather in January.

We're not allowed vacations in February, three week period in May, a two week period in July and a four week period in November because of sweeps.

I get 15 days vacation per year for your first two years, plus other sick time and what have you. So by the I figure out not doing much travel in January, can't in February, come March I'd better start looking at going somewhere or else I'm going to lose it come December!

Great news! Are you an anchor, or what do you do TV related?

No, not at an anchor. Not for a while and not something that entices me at the moment. Perhaps in a few years.

I'll be producing either the weekend newscasts and Thursday & Friday 6pm shows or the Monday - Friday 5pm shows. I don't know yet. I'm kind of hoping for the weekend newscasts...I get three days a week off and get short days on Thursday & Fridays in addition to all of that.

By the time November 2007 sweeps roll around I should be doing some reporting on air as I have a background in research and the station is looking to increase their investigative reporting focus.

All in all, it's a terrific opportunity that I can't put down into words. I'm starting off in market #72 (just changed from 73) to full time, large and in charge. Most people getting their full time jobs go into 130 and above and are still even lucky to be below market 80 on their second job. (www.tvjobs.com/markets).

Plus don't forget Des Moines will be the hot seat for the 2008 caucuses. Plus their Governor wants to get involved in the Presidential elections. Lots of fun times ahead!

Hey, when are we going to have this meet? I've been wanting to go out to the airport for awhile now, and I think we should plan a date for sometime in the spring with the nice warm weather. What do you guys think?

We need to find a time as you mentioned with nice weather. But what exactly to do? What about lunch or dinner maybe at Fridays?

Thant sounds good, maybe lunch at Friday's and then some spotting for a few hours or spotting for a few hours in the morning then lunch at Friday's.
