Been kinda quiet here. Any new news or speculation regarding the airport? i.e., Int'l flights, SFO, new carriers, etc

As far as I know there is absolutely nothing going on. I hope 2012 isn't as unproductive as 2010 and 2011.

I hope so too. Hopefully the airport adminstration will be savvy enough to take advantage of any opportunities that come their way.

If they were they'd be offering everything but the kitchen sink to JetBlue to get them to serve Indy. IND is the perfect place for them. They offer the right blend of price and service that I believe will attract Hoosiers and people from surrounding states in very large numbers.

I concur 100%. From what it looks like, their midwest market is severly underserved. With IND being centrally located with a brand new terminal with plenty of room for expansion, it would be the ideal place for JB or Virgin America. IND would be a perfect place for either airline to establish a transfer point for transcon flights. I remember when JetBlue was a startup, IND was high on their list for new destination and then the economy tanked and oil skyrocketed. Rumor has it that DL originally wanted to put a hub here instead of CVG but it was either William Hudnut or Stephen Goldsmith that wouldn't work with them on tax incentives. Oh, well. Rolling Eyes

Decent interview. Very ambitious when it comes to air service. Lets see if they can land even 1 of those routes.

I want to add that it is sad and absolutely pathetic that we cannot keep LAX year round.

I agree. Each time I've flown on the LAX flight it's always been full. They say SAN is in high demand out of IND too. The times that I've flown on the US flight to PHX, the majority of the passengers were connecting to either SAN or HNL.

IND is a big enough station for Delta that they should be the ones adding SAN, SFO, SEA and LAX.

Especially with the addition of the Crown Room which most people would think that it should show some commitment to IND on their part. Not to mention the fact that they've got nearly the entire concourse to themselves.

With Delta making LAX seasonal and downgrading SLC to a CRJ-900 tells me they are content cramming everyone into ATL whether it is necessary or not. I seriously question Delta's motives. It just appears to me that propping up the numbers in ATL to make them #1 is more important than customer service.

Now that you mention it, that makes sense.

I think that our airport is better just getting a new carrier such as one the aforementioned airlines. Maybe then we can build something from there.

JetBlue would be absolutely perfect. I believe the locations mentioned in the video are all served by JetBlue. IND would be a perfect east/west connecting point too. They could reach any destination with the E190 or the A320 if the capacity was needed. That is the beauty of using IND.

Being someone who travels internationally 5-6 times per year, I'd like to see a UA nonstop to SFO that is timed to take advantage of the flights to Asia. As it is, to fly to ICN or PVG, my preference is to go via SFO, but I do that via a connection at DEN or ORD. There are also great flights from SFO to the rest of the west coast, small cities in California, and to the destination airports in Hawaii.

In addition to that, I would really like to see Air Canada add some frequency to YYZ. I have fallen in love with re-entering the US at YYZ - so much easier, and especially so now that YYZ has Global Entry. But most Europe-YYZ routes are timed such that I'd have a 4-hour layover at YYZ. Shifting the YYZ-IND flights to be better timed following European and South American arrivals would be a great improvement.

I looked online and it said that Delta is starting the IND-LAX route as early as March 2012.

That isn't a start. Is is a resumption of service. I guess IND-LAX is being treated as seasonal.

Indy,

I believe that's how they've got it listed now.
